Romanian wine is determinedly making its way to the international market. A team consisting of a new generation of entrepreneurs will showcase Romanian wines at ProWein Düsseldorf (Germany) from March 10th to 12th, 2024.
With a fresh image and united under the slogan "Yes, Romania Makes Wine," the 21 wineries will highlight the diversity and quality of Romanian wines for the international audience at Romania’s stand at ProWein, the world’s largest trade fair of its kind.
Romania’s participation was made possible with the support of APEV Romania (Association of Romanian Wine Producers and Exporters) and is funded from the participating wineries’ own resources. Selgros Romania has joined in supporting this initiative as a partner.
During the fair, Romanian producers will organize several promotional events, tastings, and informational sessions. The slogan "Yes, Romania makes wine" will be the central theme of an exceptional masterclass where the most renowned Romanian varieties, Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, and Fetească Neagră, will be showcased.
The masterclass will be led by Valentin Ceafalău, a journalist, wine taster, communicator, and juror in international wine competitions. Valentin has been recognized for his tasting skills, receiving the "Benchmark Taster" award at the "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles" in 2019, and in 2023, he won the "World Blind Tasting Championship" organized by "La Revue du Vin de France" in Provence, as part of the National Tasting Team.
Visitors to the ProWein fair will find Romania’s stand in Hall 13 (Stand D10). The 21 participating wineries are: Aurelia Visinescu, Domeniile Averesti, Budureasca, Ceptura Winery, Caii de la Letea, Cotnari, Darabont Family, Davino, DeMatei Winery, Franco-Romanian Domains, Bogdan Estate, Dropia, Girboiu Winery, Hermeziu Winery, Jidvei, Liliac, Viile Metamorfosis, Murfaltar Vinul, Crama Oprisor, Rasova Winery and Domeniile Samburesti.
For 30 years, ProWein has been the most important international trade fair for wines and spirits covering the entire global market. The Düsseldorf fair offers international buyers and visitors the perfect opportunity to discover new wines, new reference products for consumers, and the latest trends in the wine and spirits sector.
APEV Romania (Association of Wine Producers and Exporters of Romania) brings together the most important wine exporters in our country, who together hold about 70% of Romania’s total wine exports. Its members also hold a similar share of about 70% of the domestic market.
APEV Romania was established in 2001 as a nonprofit legal entity aimed at representing, defending, and promoting the rights and interests of its members, both locally and internationally. At this moment, APEV is going through a transformation stage supported by a collective of visionaries who want to reposition the image of Romanian wine internationally. Committed to collaboration and innovation, APEV’s mission is to strengthen the position of Romanian wines in the domestic market, to conquer the international wine market, and to reposition the country brand of Romanian wine globally.
