RO – Wine | The International Wine Festival of Romania
The third Transylvanian edition of the RO-Wine wine festival took place on March 19th and 20th, at Chios Social Lounge, in the Central Park of Cluj.
Visitors had the opportunity to discover over 300 labels of premium wines from over 50 wine producers in Romania or internationally, as well as top sparkling wines from Champagne, vinars, craft beer or specialty coffee. In total, over 3000 bottles – including organic, natural or bottled wines in magnum, jeroboam or even 15 liter bottles – were opened to be tasted by wine lovers in the two days of the festival.
As before, one of the attractions was the Gourmet area, where the participants had at their disposal from steaming products of fine pastry of French inspiration and varieties of bread to artisanal chocolate and sessions of culinary associations between delicacies and wines.
RO-Wine Cluj was also the place chosen for the official launch of the NASTY wine range, produced by Prince Matei Domains for the great Romanian tennis champion, Ilie Nastase. The range includes three blends – Cuvée Alb (Feteasca Alba & Feteasca Regala), Cuvée Rosé (Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Feteasca Neagra) and Cuvée Rosu (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Feteasca Neagra) – which visitors had the opportunity to taste leisurely.
For the first time for the general public, the well-known wine lover Virgil Iantu presented the wine created for and with him at the Budureasca winery, BonOm, a limited edition assembly , created from Feteasca Negra, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
As at each edition, access was free for all those involved in the wine market or horeca, based on the prior registration on the official website of the event, romaniawinefestival.com. The festival managed to bring together professionals from all over the country, representing wine shops, hotels, importers, distributors, restaurant owners, but also visitors from abroad who came especially for this Transylvanian edition.
The world of wine has also enjoyed the participation of personalities from the world of sports, from the famous striker Adrian Mutu to athletes from the rugby team of the University of Cluj.
This edition of RO-Wine Cluj also marked a record number of participants, the tickets and seats being sold out just a few hours after the opening of the first day of the festival. All revenues from ticket sales are directed to supporting refugees from Ukraine.
“We thank the producers who chose to join us at RO-Wine Cluj 2022 and all those who delighted us with their presence last weekend at Chios Social Lounge. Our expectations have been exceeded, and the enthusiasm of all participants gives us energy for the preparation of the next editions of RO-Wine.
We want to have quiet days and to see each other again in May, at RO-Wine – the Bucharest edition, hosted at Fratelli Studios”, said Marinela Ardelean and Liviu Popescu, the organizers of RO-Wine | The International Wine Festival of Romania.
