(chemistry) – isomerism is the phenomenon whereby two or more substances with the same molecular formula possess different physical and chemical properties. There are structural isomers and optical isomers (stereoisomers). Stereoisomers are found in compounds with molecular asymmetry (an asymmetric molecule does not overlap its mirror image).
