1,000 wines, three halls, three days and a "Made in Italy" feast are the ingredients of the most appealing RO-Wine edition so far.
From its first edition, every RO-WINE festival in Bucharest has set new records, be it the number of participants, the number of visitors or, implicitly, the number of opened bottles. Even before its official opening, this spring’s edition already holds the record for the most participating labels – over one thousand. Now, when we just started counting the hours until Friday, most of the bottles are already in the refrigerators, waiting to conquer new admirers.
It is the first three-day edition, and the surprises will keep on comin. Fans of new wines and trends will once again have the opportunity to discover new wineries, as well as international producers introducing themselves for the first time to the Romanian public. Those who wish to learn wine can participate in one (or more) of the nine masterclasses organized by top producers. We are recording a piece of history as the Prince Matei Domains become the DeMatei Winery and introduces new ranges, Patima and Migala (Passion & Detailing), but we also enjoy a taste of history, with a vertical tasting of Feteasca neagra by SERVE. The founder of the winery, Count Guy de Poix was the first winery founder who trusted, loved and promoted this local wine grape variety.
To all those who love the Italian taste and refined flavors – you will be able to enjoy an exclusive selection of local produce within the “Taste of Italy” salon, most of which are introduced for the first time to the Romanian market. The whole exhibit is a feast dedicated to the food and wine tradition that turned Italy into a worldwide gourmet star. Wine, olive oil, cheese and gourmet producers from legendary regions will participate – Veneto, Puglia, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Campania, Sicily, Piemonte, Lazio or Abruzzo.
"Italy is the European country with the largest number of agri-food products with an established denomination of origin (DOC’s) and / or a geographical indication (GI) recognized by the European Union – 847 – another proof of the quality of its products. Above all, this is proof of the strong connection between the excellence of Italian agri-food products and their origin. We are happy to acknowledge that the Romanian public has a true and special interest in top Italian agro-food products", said the Italian Ambassador to Bucharest, His Excellence Alfredo Maria Durante Mangoni.
"RO-Wine is the place where I feel, discover and enjoy the progress of the wine-loving public in Romania. The proof is the fact that we, as a distribution company, have made our pecence increasingly visible. The RO-Wine public is an educated one, understanding wine and all related things and rituals. Also, the amount of hospitality industry representatives is also remarkable. Surprisingly, I see more and more young people, and it makes me happy. It is a festival synchronized with all the new international trends in logistics and set up, clearly offering more than other similar events", says Carmen Savu, co-owner of ParmaFood, one of the largest distribution companies in Romania.
We will once again enjoy Carrefour’sDeschidem Vinul Romanesc / We Open the Romanian Wine program (short name DVR)an innovative initiative that was sparked by trusting that Romanian wine can become a country brand, at first as a program designed to support local producers and wine lovers, but then turning into the most diverse and compelling collection of exclusive wines in Romania. Discover the wines your favorite producers brought to DVR!
Also within RO-Wine, you will have the opportunity to be among the first ones to taste the Strehan Winery first harvest. As the newest wine producer in Dealu Mare says, "Our participation in RO Wine marks the official opening of Strehan Winery for the local wine market. We thank the organizers for being here, introducing our first wines". (Vasile Ene, owner)
On Friday, at 2 p.m., we start uncorking bottles!
We are looking forward to seeing you! As always, hospitality industry employees, managers and owners have free access after pre-booking on the official festival website – https://romaniawinefestival.com.
