The wines from Târnave have a long-standing tradition, being appreciated since the feudal period when Transylvania was known as the "Land of Wine." In 1949, the Jidvei State Agricultural Enterprise was founded, which in 1999 became a family business, opening a new chapter in developing the region’s wines.
The first gold medals were won in 1958, and in 1974, the company launched its sparkling wine range, which has been continuously produced ever since. In 2014, the Tăuni Winery was inaugurated, one of the largest gravity-fed wineries in Europe. In 2019, Jidvei was awarded the Grand Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, becoming the first Romanian producer to win this prestigious accolade.
Jidvei also owns Bethlen-Haller Castle, a symbol of its wines, offering visitors exceptional wine tourism experiences.
