Dealu Mare is one of Romania’s most renowned wine regions. Near the town of Urlați lies the vineyards of Gramofon Wine, set in an area rich in Balkan cultural heritage.
The winery is owned by musician Marcel Pascu and university professor Marcel Vulpoi, each bringing a unique contribution to the winery’s story. Marcel Pascu, originally from Prahova, dedicated his life to music, traveling the world before returning home to transform his passion for harmony into the art of winemaking. Unconventionally, the partnership between Pascu and Vulpoi began through a swap: the winery’s accounting in exchange for wine. This led to their collaboration, with the professor bringing marketing expertise, a zest for celebration, and a Dionysian atmosphere.
