Located in the Huși Vineyard in northeastern Romania, Averești owns 650 hectares of vineyards and enjoys a long-standing viticultural tradition. In 1874, nobleman Ștefan Negruzzi and French oenologist René Faure modernised the local viticulture, revitalising traditional varieties such as Zghihara and Busuioaca and introducing international varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The revitalisation of viticulture in Averești began in 2010 with the replanting of vineyards and the construction a state-of-the-art winery, supported by a total investment of 33 million euros, including European funds. Today, Averești holds the largest area planted with Busuioacă de Bohotin and Zghihară de Huși in Romania. Zghihară de Huși is ideal for dry white wines with high acidity, best enjoyed young, while Busuioacă de Bohotin produces aromatic rosés, balanced between finesse and structure.
