The history of Oprișor Winery in the Drincea Valley, Mehedinți County, began in the mid-1990s when the German company Reh-Kendermann chose to invest in Romania. Carl Reh, the company’s founder, started his business in 1920 in the Moselle Valley, Germany, devastated by World War I. Over time, the company developed under three generations of leadership, becoming a global player in the wine market. In this context, acquiring the Oprișor winery and replanting over 250 hectares of vineyards marked the first step of its expansion into this part of Europe.
Oprișor Winery is situated in the natural amphitheater of Golul Drincei within a picturesque wine-growing landscape. The fertile lands allow for the production of wines with a distinct character, reflecting the influence of the Oltenian terroir and German viticultural expertise.
