Merlot
Merlot is the most cultivated grapevine variety with black grapes for red wines in Romania, occupying 11,108.71 ha. (ONVPV, 2022) It is said that the name of the wine grape variety comes from Merle, the beautiful Blackbird, with bright plumage, that emits enchanting trills, referring to the intense, deep-dark colour of the grape’s skin.
Chardonnay
There is no one region in the world which does not include plantings of Chardonnay grapes as there is no one country in the world which does not sell Chardonnay wine! Even in Romania we have 2002,37 ha!
Syrah or Shiraz
My first contact with Syrah wine was in 2014, at the well-known ‘club of unauthorized wine tasters’ in Arad, with a 2005 Penfolds Magill Estate Shiraz.
Alb aromat
Alb aromat is the first and only name in the Passport [5] international VIVC where it has the number 23101. Romanian variety of semi aromatic white wine grapes, Alb Aromat was approved in 1999 by the Pietroasa Wine Research and Development Station (ROM 13), which is also the vinegrape variety’s maintainer.
Negru de Dragasani
According to the Passport international[1] VIVCwhere it has the number 23178, Negru de Dragasani, (ROM75), Romanian variety black wine grapes with full pedigree [2]], awarded by the Dragasani Wine Research Station in Romania and subsequently confirmed by molecular analysis[3], is the result of hybridization between the varieties Negru Virtos and Saperavi.
Feteasca regala
According to the Passport international [1] VIVC, Feteasca regala, Romanian variety white wine grapes with full pedigree [2] determined by molecular analysis, is the result of natural hybridization (free crossing, without any human intervention) between (mother) Feteasca alba and ( father) Francuse [1]Francusa[3]..
Feteasca alba
According to the International Passport [1] VIVC, Feteasca alba is a Romanian variety of white grapes for wine.
Feteasca Neagra
According to the Passport international[1] VIVC, Feteasca neagra is a Romanian variety of black grapes for wine. Synonyms accepted for labelling for wines produced in Romania are Schwarze Madchentraube, Poama fata nera, Păsărească nera, Pajarna da Swallowtail.
