Licorna Winehouse

The story begins in 1909

Licorna Winehouse is located in the Dealu Mare vineyard, in Gura Vadului, 7 km from Mizil town, on the road linking Ploiești and Buzău. It opened in 2013 on the spot where Nicolae and Elena Nicolau, husband and wife, decided to build a winery.
The manor on the estate belonged to the Nicolau family and also served as the venue where they used to ennoble that year’s production. It was erected between 1907 and 1909 by Italian stone builders, masters in stone-carving for the locals. Inside this manor’s winery, the wines are aged in 80 oak barrels, while the softening of the red wine takes place in 2,000 and 3,000 liters reservoires.
The winemaking centre was built in 2013, with a storage capacity of 150 tons per year. The white grapes from
the noble varieties parcels are processed in French oak receptacles. The bottling line’s capacity is 1,000 bottles/hour.
The grapes are picked only by hand, the healthy one being pre-sorted even from the vine. They are crushed only in certain years, when the juice is really concentrated, while the pressing is performed gradually and the yield of the stump does not exceed 55%.
Licorna wine obtained is subject to clearing and self aging, with no aggressive interference. The only shock is, inevitably, the bottling.
