LacertA Winery

The Tyrolean winery
in Dealu Mare Vineyard

Located in the Dealu Mare vineyard, LacertA Winery’s geographical position along the 45th parallel is ideal, similar to that of other regions famous for their wines – rich, velvety and complex – such as Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion and Tuscany.
The grape production is standardised throughout the year to achieve a maximum of one kilo of grapes per grapevine. Grapes entering the winemaking process are strictly selected, so as to ensure the desired quality of the wine.
There are six varieties of red wine cultivated on the vineyard and
as many white wines. Both international varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Blaufraenkisch, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rhein Riesling, Muscat Ottonel and Chardonnay –, and valuable indigenous varieties – Fetească Neagră and Fetească Albă – are grown here.
Five million euros were invested in the new winery, designed by two Tyrolean architects, Volker Miklautz and Markus Gaertner. The cellar where the wines are kept under strictly-controlled conditions uses a modern winemaking technique, based on the principle of gravity. LacertA uses over 650 barrels for a maximum period of three years. The maturation is made in oak barriques, originating from France, USA, Russia, Hungary or Romania.
Winery’s visitors can explore LacertA’s tasting salon, a wine shop and a conference room. The wine ranges LacertA and Cameleon have won numerous medals at specialised competitions.
