Familia Hetei

Family values

The history of Familia Hetei business dates back to 2005 when they decided to plant new varieties on what it used to be an old vine, while also extending the fertile surface up to 2 ha. Four more have later been added. The varieties are Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Fetească Neagră, Riesling de Rhin, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Furmint, Pinot Gris, Tămâioasă Românească, and Fetească Regală.
In 2011, Familia Hetei bought another 9 ha, located on Dealul Nou, where they exclusively grow red varieties: Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are harvested manually, in small cases, in order to avoid the crushing and the oxidation of the fruit.
The family cave has been built one hundred years ago and has been recently extended with 22 meters, having a total depth of 33 meters. This is where the reds are matured in small capacity Romanian and French oak barrels, as well as a whites selection, mostly Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Starting with 2011, thanks to the modern technology employed, the grapes have been vinified within the premises.
The brands of the Hetei Family are Selecţia Familiei (The Family’s Selection) and Rezerva Familiei (The Family’s Reserve). Both have won medals at national and international contests. Starting with 2015, the company has its own outlet in Satu Mare.
