Located in the heart of the Vrancea county, in an area with a long tradition in producing high-quality wines, Cotești, Pandora Winery is not new, but it has only recently come to the public’s attention. Founded in 2004 by Ion Simiz and given forth in 2019 to his son, Doru Simiz, the winery has 35 hectares of vines, on slopes between 100 and 300 meters above sea level, in an amphitheatre that guarantees the better exposure to sunlight.
The original construction of the Pandora Winery is located on the site of the old winery of the Nicolau boyar family, while the modern winery, in full development, will offer a production capacity of 300,000 bottles per year. Vineyard practices are sustainability-oriented, with maximum water savings and using natural fertilizers and plants instead of pesticides and other chemicals.
The winery’s oenologist, Florin Manoliu, was trained in Romania, both in large companies and by side with some of his most valuable guild colleagues, specializing in the production of premium wines, in small and medium-sized wineries.
