Viișoara Winery

Gheorghe Albu is one of the most prominent farmers in Constanța County, working thousands of hectares planted with cereals, oilseeds or vegetables. The success in farming gave him the chance to make a historical recovery: the replanting of the vineyards in Viișoara, completely cut off during the communist period.

The 250 hectares of the reborn vineyard were planted using material brought in from France, and include both local varieties, Fetească Neagră, Fetească Albă or Tămâioasă Românească, and international grapes – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Muscat Ottonel. The red and white varieties are balanced, each occupying 50% of the vineyard.
The development of the winery was one of the fastest in Romania, its construction lasting less than 4 months. Equipped with modern technology, but also with a room for traditional oak barrels maturation, the winery also includes a generous tasting space, a wine shop and a restaurant with 100 seats.

Responsible for the quality of wines is another key figure of viticulture in Dobrogea, oenologist Nicolae Itu. Currently, Crama Viișoara sells five wine ranges: Cuvée Ioan (premium), Conu Albu and Via Maria (dry wines), Nostalgia (semi-dry wines), Liliana (semi-sweet wines).
