The history of this winery begins in 1990. This year, Casa de Vinuri Negrini, bought the former property of General Corneliu Teodorini, an illustrious character of Romania’s interwar period. The property is located in Drăgăşani vineyard. It includes ten hectares, seven of which are planted with vines, the rest of it being covered by forest. In the middle of the property, there is a mansion and a wine cellar. The new owners replanted the vineyard with Fetească Regală, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Negru de Drăgăşani.
Casa de Vinuri Negrini was founded, surprisingly, thanks to a passionate romance between a Romanian oenologist and an Italian ballerina. This is why the symbol of Negrini winery is a ballerina. The idyll took place in the interwar period. Romanian oenologist’s followers wanted to honour his memory, thus fulfilling the dream of owning a vineyard. They now produce wines labelled with a ballerina as a symbol of elegance, good taste, but also of love and passion.
Founder of the House Negrini is Cristina Viorica Negrini Gheorghe, who has also borrowed one of her three names to the winery she runs: “It is one of the well-known wineries in the area, along with those of Ştirbey and Brătianu.” After her father’s death, the heiress of the property decided to carry on the family tradition, to create a winery, a wine and a title in the memory of her parents.
Negrini founder’s goal is to rekindle both the tradition and the fame of the wines produced in this very spot.
