Ambition and traditional methods
Crama Rotenberg is a producer of premium artisanal wines and owns a wine-making gravitational line, in which the wine is made entirely according to traditional methods. By favouring quality instead of quantity, the producers pick and sort the grapes by hand only.
The vine, situated in the Ceptura village (Prahova county), spreads onto approximately 23 hectares, where Merlot is mostly harvested. For its major part, the vine is more than forty years old, with a grape production limited to 5 tons/ha.
Crama Rotenberg is an old building in the centre of Ceptura de Jos, entirely rebuilt. It houses the most natural production process possible, where any mechanical intervention is forbidden. The two bunk caves allow a gravitational technological flow, and, when needed, the wine is cleared with the albumin from the egg’s glair.
The barrels are Romanian sessile, aged at least eighteen months in rain and wind and then burnt in depth, so that the wines gains a special taste.
The Rotenberg wines can be purchased in retail chains, specialty outlets, restaurants, but also from the winery or from its website: www.rotenberg.ro. There are three ranges: Rapsod, Menestrel and Rotenberg. The Owner’s Reserve wines are winery only available.
