Deep ruby red. A wine that goes beyond the spectrum of ordinary analysis, in each and every of its dimensions. Olfactory, it seems to start from prunes and smoked plums, black berry jam and a lot of spices but, after a breather, the subsequent development brings up a true concert of figs, caramel, smoke, dried leaves, sour cherries, making it impossible to place this with certainty under a grape variety or a winemaking style. The residual sugar is perfectly integrated, the tannins are velvety – and this velvety feeling dominates the whole. It is perhaps the best semi-sweet red wine tasted in recent years.
