Two centuries of tradition
The oldest winery in the Republic of Moldova, Purcari, was founded in 1827 and won the first gold medal in 1878, at the World Exhibition in Paris, for Negru de Purcari.
An essential endeavour for Purcari Winery is high-quality vinicultural tourism. Chateau Purcari is located 120 kilometres from Chișinău, near the Dniester River and just 50 kilometres from the Black Sea. The famous Purcari cellars, built-in 1827, shelter an important part of the Republic of Moldova’s heritage – the Purcari collection of coupages.
In the recent history of the winery, 2003 was a turning point year: the 250 hectares of vines were replanted, and the winery was supplied with the best equipment. Today, the Moldovan winery produces about 500.000 bottles of wine per year. Purcari portfolio includes: Negru de Purcari, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rara Neagră, Icewine, Roşu de Purcari, Alb de Purcari, Cahor.
As Moldova’s most prestigious export, Purcari lead the nation’s international development by entering into over 25 markets including the US, Canada, UK, Norway, Czech Republic, China, Poland, and the Baltic countries.
