Vinăria din Vale

Competition and evolution

The vine harvesting tradition in the winery goes back to 1899, when, according to the legend, after a terrible frost, a flock of cranes led the villagers towards the wonderful valley of the Prut river, sunny and bathed by the waters of a warm source, with mature vines and succulent, tasty grapes.
Carrying on this tradition, the Winery owns three winerys: Vierul Vin and Slobozia Mare in the South of the country (the Valul lui Traian geographic region), specialized in processing the fruits. The third one, Săseni, focuses on the primary processing, as well as storing and bottling.
Most part of the surface is covered with European varieties – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer, Pinot Gris. The indigenous are not overpassed either: Fetească Albă or Rară Neagră.
The grapes are selected and controlled during the entire growth cycle and harvested only by hand. The maceration is cold, the fermenting takes place in stainless steel tanks, whereas stabilizing and bottling are both sterile. For the red wines, the malo-lactic ferment is employed, then the aging in French oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months, then sterile bottled and, finally, aged inside the bottle.
Vinăria din Vale is the recipient of the “Best Winery of 2014” title. Furthermore, the Winery has also won prestigious competitions, such as Decanter LondonBucharest Wine & SpiritsChişinău Wine & Spirits Contest.
