Via Husi

“Via Husi” has its roots in the rich viticultural history of the region. The first records of vineyards in Husi date back to the 15th century, with a significant mention in 1415, marking it one of the earliest written proofs of grape cultivation in this region of Moldova. During the reign of Stephen the Great, the Husi area became renowned for its viticulture. The first official mention of the vineyards in Husi appears in a charter from 1474, documenting that the ruler of Moldova donated his vineyards to the Putna monastery.
In the 19th century, in 1891, the School of Viticulture was established in Husi. This institution played an important role in the development and modernization of grape cultivation and wine production techniques, training numerous generations of specialists who contributed to the development of viticulture in the Husi region and other viticultural areas of the country.
The viticultural tradition in Husi has continued and developed over the centuries, transforming the town into an important viticultural center of Moldova. The fertile soil and favorable climate have contributed to the production of quality wines, appreciated both nationally and internationally.
In the 1950s-1960s, the Husi Wine Center was founded, an important unit in Romania’s wine industry. Its purpose was to centralize and modernize wine production in the region. The Husi Wine Center became a landmark in the viticultural industry due to its production capacities and advanced technology for that period.
Starting in 2020, the Husi Wine Center was acquired by the same investor from Domeniile Averesti, who promotes the native varieties Zghihara de Husi and Busuioaca de Bohotin. The center was modernized and reinvented, retaining only the location, the building, and the cellar with over 110,000 old wine bottles.
After an investment of over €15,000,000, Via Husi will start producing still wines and several types of sparkling wines, obtained through both the classic and Charmat methods.
“Via Husi” represents a continuation of the commitment to restore the charm of the Husi Vineyard.
