Historical records show that in 1903, in the village of Tomai, the local landlord and winemaker Gheorghi Topciu, together with the villagers, created a winery and laid the foundations of a wine cellar for wine preservation in the place of the current wine factory. To achieve the established goals, based on the former Soviet farm for viticulture and wine production, in 1997 the Tomai Vinex share based company was founded, which became the successor of the wine-growing guild of the village. By retaining the experienced wine-makers and viticulturists, the new enterprise has undergone a complete, time-driven technical and technological modernization. New Italian wine production equipment was purchased, the parent stocks and vaccinations sections for the production of new vines were regenerated, vines were planted.
A closed production cycle, as well as complete automation of grape growing, constant monitoring, favorable weather conditions, fertile soil and the warm sun in the South, allow the company to process up to 10.000 tons of grapes.
Innovations immediately yielded positive results: today, the company produces up to 30.000 hl of high-quality wine. The wines produced by the enterprise are very sought after and always become winners of the annual republican and international exhibitions, which is confirmed by a large number of medals.
