20 years ago, DAVINO took the Romanian wine market by surprise, launching wines of exceptional quality on the market, at a time when private investors in the field could be counted on one hand’s fingers. After several experiments in various vineyards, the company settled in Dealu Mare, where oenologist Bogdan Costăchescu already had experience, knew each well-performing plot of land and where they found the chance to acquire old vines.
Today, DAVINO produces top wines from old vineyards, some over 50 years, but also fresh, more modern wines from vineyards replanted after 2004. Names such as Domaine Ceptura, Flamboyant or Revelatio have already entered the consciousness of the wine-loving public as quality landmarks.
The 70 owned hectares and the leased 17 ones are exploited non-invasively, at the limit of organic practices, in order to maintain biological balance. Production is extremely limited, to 5-6 tons / ha for red grapes and 7-8 tons for white grapes. Also, in 2021, the production of organic wines will start, and the entire vineyard will reach this standard by 2030. During the winemaking process, 90% of the oak barrels used are locally sourced.
