A seductive Aligoté at Terente’s Cellar
Alcovin vineyard, one of the three wine centers of Sarica Niculiţel, along with Niculiţel and Tulcea, is located in Măcin and covers 300 hectares of land. Vineyards can be found both in Cerna area, between Măcin Mountains National Park and the Silvicultural Reserve of Chervant Hill, and also on Carcaliu hill, in Natura 2000 protected area. Established in 2002, Alcovin cellar is a Romanian – Belarusian shareholding.
Tourists are offered wine tastings and traditional menus at Crama Dobrogeana and Terente’s Cellar, the formal saloon that naturally took its name from the most famous interwar Romania bandit. Ștefan Vasali, also called King of Ponds, was a Lipoven born in Carcaliu in 1895. He was nicknamed Terente by confusion and became famous after robberies and crimes committed in 1920 in four Balkan states – he was the main character of a feuilleton of the time, defined by both bandit allure and perfect lover appeal. The varieties cultivated in Alcovin vineyard are Aligoté, Chardonnay, Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, Muscat Ottonel, Italian Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Tămâioasă Românească, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fetească Neagră, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, and Shiraz. Among our ranges, we can mention Curtea Regală, Pelegrin, Renatus, Tres Rosae, Trei Brațe.
The company proudly boasts of the Royal House supplier status, obtained in 2011, and its members’ visit at the winery in 2009.
